How to Know When Your Business Needs Outside Advice

Not every business decision needs outside input. Plenty of day-to-day choices are best made quickly, by the person closest to the business.

Outside advice tends to earn its cost when a decision is expensive to get wrong, when you've been circling the same problem without resolving it, or when you're simply too close to the business to see it clearly.

A useful test: if you've explained the same problem to two or three people you trust and are still unsure, that's usually a sign the problem needs a more structured, outside perspective rather than another opinion from inside your own circle.

Outside advice doesn't have to mean a large, ongoing engagement. Sometimes a single, focused conversation is enough to get unstuck — which is the basis of FGL's one-on-one consulting.
